Mission Statement

The Bennet Omalu Foundation is committed to funding research, raising awareness, providing care, and finding cures for people suffering from CTE and TBI. Our goal is to advance the Humanity of Science.

Bennet Omalu's Story

Bennet Omalu is a forensic pathologist whose autopsy of Pittsburgh Steelers center Mike Webster led to Omalu's discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. He is currently chief medical examiner of San Joaquin County, California and is a professor in the UC Davis Department of Medical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The University of Pittsburgh and its world-class brain researchers will be the official academic institution affiliated with the Bennet Omalu Foundation to support the study of traumatic brain injuries, neurodegeneration and dementia.
